Go to Maasvlakte 2, you won’t find anything there except factories that form an industrial landscape like palm trees. A beautiful fair of lights through no man’s land, with beaches here and there and Café ’t Hoekje at the very end. It’s also nice to cycle there from Rotterdam via Spijkenisse and Pernis. You can learn everything about Maasvlakte 2 at the Futureland Visitor Centre. And get a bite to eat and a cup of coffee at Smickel Inn Balkon van Europa. My secret hideout on the beach of Hoek van Holland is Pele Surf Shack. Good vegan food, nice staff and no signal. Just stare at the sea and enjoy.
