What is there to see when I walk through the neighbourhood?
In Zuid, you walk through long streets with working-class houses interspersed with multicultural restaurants and admire buildings such as the Zuidplein Theatre. In Noord, what residents of Zuid call ‘the other side,’ many modern, post-WWII buildings can be found. Everything in the city points to innovation; de Lijnbaan, for example, looks average but was architecturally one of the world’s first accessible to pedestrians only– frontrunners! This also applies to Weena; for us Rotterdammers, it is all self-evident, but a ‘boulevard’ complete with trams is absolutely mind-blowing for many foreigners!
