Rotterdam = marathon city. Where’s the best place to run?

‘Rotterdam is a fantastic place to run because of its expanse. We hold a marathon here every year with frequent world records for good reason. I regularly run a route across the bridges. From Zuid to the Willemsbrug and back via the Erasmus Bridge. Two iconic monuments of the city, a route of about 8 km.

At Rotterdamrent.nl, you will find four distances (3.5 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km) in the city centre that largely follow the Maas River. They are marked on the pavement. Apart from the Maas, you will also pass industrial heritage sites in Zuid, picturesque old dykes or the Brienenoord Bridge with a beautiful view of the Rotterdam skyline. There are several water taps along the 21 km route.

And, of course, don’t forget the path around the Kralingse Plas. The lake is a wonderful nature and recreation area in one of the nicest areas of the city and popular with the locals. Admire the skyline of Rotterdam while running, or take a sup board out onto the lake. After exercising, there are plenty of good places to eat and drink, such as The Boathouse, de Tuin van de vier windstreken and Woodz. Those with a healthy appetite can go to Boshut de Big for a traditional Dutch pancake.’

I feel like going to the beach, is that possible in the city?
