After a blissful night’s sleep, where can I see Rotterdam’s architecture shine?

It’s not easy to come across a city with so much space to build and where construction is carried out with as much volume and daring as in Rotterdam. Look at the Markthal, the Fenix Food Factory or Central Station. There is still one available plot on the Wilhelminapier, where The Sax will be built; a 51-storey structure designed by MVRDV Architects, who also designed the Depot. It will have a golden sky-bridge across the street and a large hotel with a view over the Maas and the city. Although such projects are generally new construction, Rotterdam also likes to combine the old with the new. Like the new Fenix Food Factory, where you can still see the old concrete construction and where the old tram rails – which are no longer in use – still surround the building. This allows you to experience the past of the old port and at the same time, find yourself in a new world. Just being there makes you feel that another time has come with opportunities to change.

I started Moonback because I was annoyed with the current booking platforms. I now hope to contribute to a fairer system, a fairer internet actually and, in the Rotterdam way, to let my actions speak louder than words.

Any dinner and dancing recommendations before I happily retire to my hotel bed?
