Talitha Nollen (33) is a communications expert and board member of GayRotterdam.nl, the online LGBTQi+ platform for Rotterdam and the region.
Lives: With daughter Jule (2) in Delfshaven. My Turkish bakery, the daily walk from bridge to bridge, watching football at Café de Ooievaar: this district is a bustling melting pot of cultures, day and night. There’s no reason for me to ever leave.
Out of the closet: I fell in love with a woman I met on the Stadhuisplein ten years ago. I like to contribute to the pink community. By paying attention to our differences, I hope that we will eventually be treated as equals.
Question 1 of 6
For raw creativity, I go to the Keilewerf
Old harbour warehouses are now occupied by artists like Joep van Lieshout with his AVL Mundo art centre and, if you walk a little further, you can buy fresh cow’s milk at the floating farm. This piece of raw Rotterdam still has an abundance of possibilities. For me, being in the middle of the harbours between the cargo ships is the ultimate holiday feeling; at Zandbar, I can put my feet in the sand and enjoy a beer, at Bitter you can eat and dance, and if it gets out of hand, I can crawl home.
