RECOMMENDATIONS THAT MAKE YOU WANT TO CYCLE THROUGH THE CITY MORE SLOWLY
Linda van der Vleuten (41) & Bruce Tsai-Meu-Chong (38), co-owners of Creative Bureau Opperclaes.
Live: In the Nieuwe Westen, in Delfshaven, with their two children.
Work: In Central District, where they create creatively in their studio. They are responsible for the immense murals on and around the Hofbogen railway viaduct.
Why: ‘We are breathing new life into parts of Rotterdam that have not yet been optimally utilised.’
Lof der Zoetheid is an absolute must, both because of the delicious sweets (and much more!) and the inspiring mother-daughter duo that has put this unique spot in Noord on the map. Take your scone to the park on the roof of the Hofbogen – the ‘Luchtpark’ – and enjoy the picnic vibe in the bustling city centre. If you’re curious by nature, you should visit the Kruiskade! It’s the gathering place for many international cuisines, but mainly the place to be for an unpolished piece of Rotterdam where commonplace is the exception.
